TechUp: Applied Open Data

Celebrating Open Data day, The IO Foundation and Sinar Project bring you this TechUp workshop on Open Data.

In this TechUp workshop you'll learn what Open Data is all about, how it enables people, governments and businesses to access rich data sets from all over the world for better decision making and storytelling. This workshop is part of TechUp's capacity building sessions.

What is Open Data?
Open data is the idea that some data should be freely available to everyone to use and republish as they wish, without restrictions from copyright, patents or other mechanisms of control.

Why is Open Data important?
Data is the currency of the future. With data, we can understand the past and make more accurate predictions of the future. Open Data simplifies the access to valuable information to researchers, businesses, programmers and tech entrepreneurs so that they can be more innovative and create value in the economic, social or even political arenas.

New to Open Data? No worries, we've got you covered! The workshop will introduce you to Open Data and show you how to apply its methodology to your own projects.
